Bringing nature to canvas.

Artwork by Mary Jane Houser

Being an oil painter of nature and landscapes, residing in Connecticut, my inspiration comes from the organic beauty that surrounds me and the incredible creation of nature. Reflection and light are both integral parts of my work. Light interacting with the surface creates a sense of depth and realism that I am capturing. In my latest paintings light plays a central roll. Here are some of my most current oil paintings.

Abstract painting with swirling, cloudy textures in shades of brown, orange, gray, and cream.
A painting of a moonlit night with a large, cloudy sky. The moon shines brightly, reflecting on the water. In the background, there is a building with domes and spires, likely a historical or religious structure, partially obscured by fog. In the foreground, a few figures are walking along the water's edge, and two boats are floating on the water.

Lighten Up

Light in Darkness

Personalized Painting

One of my greatest joys is bringing a cherished memory to canvas so that it can be enjoyed as artwork. Do you have a memory you would like to turn into a beautiful piece of artwork. I would be happy to work with you.
